Pakistan Warns of Possible Indian Attack Within 24–36 Hours
Tensions Increase After Kashmir Attack
Pakistan’s Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, has made a serious claim that India may carry out a military attack on Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. He said that Pakistan has reliable intelligence about this possible attack.
This statement was shared early Wednesday through a post on social media. The warning follows a recent deadly attack in the town of Pahalgam, located in Indian-controlled Kashmir. That attack killed 26 tourists and has led to high tensions between the two neighboring countries.

Pakistan Accuses India of Creating a False Excuse
Minister Tarar also said that India might be using the Kashmir attack as a false reason to take military action against Pakistan. He accused India of blaming Pakistan without any proper investigation.
Although Tarar did not provide hard evidence, he warned that Pakistan would strongly respond if India takes any aggressive action. So far, the Indian government has not responded publicly to these accusations.
“Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region,” – Attaullah Tarar on X (formerly Twitter)
Defence Minister Says Pakistan Ready to Defend
Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, also confirmed to Reuters that Pakistan is preparing for a possible Indian attack. He said a military incursion from India seems very likely.
Asif added that Pakistan has nuclear weapons but would only consider using them if there were a direct and serious threat to the country’s survival. He made it clear that Pakistan is on high alert, but prefers peace.
India Holds Pakistan Responsible for Deadly Kashmir Attack
The recent attack happened on April 22 in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Indian-administered Kashmir. It was the deadliest attack on tourists in more than 20 years.
Indian officials said that they believe Pakistani elements were involved in the attack. A group called The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility. This group is believed to be an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a banned militant group based in Pakistan.
Pakistan, however, has denied any involvement in the attack. Instead, it has demanded a fair and neutral investigation, saying the country is not linked to any such activities.
Diplomatic Measures Add to the Tension
After the attack, both countries began taking strict diplomatic steps against each other:
Pakistan cancelled visas issued to Indian citizens.
Pakistani airspace was closed to Indian airlines.
India suspended its role in the Indus Waters Treaty, an agreement on sharing water from the Indus River.
The suspension of the treaty caused strong protests in Pakistan. The Pakistani government announced that it would take legal action against India’s decision to withdraw from the agreement.
About the Indus Waters Treaty
The Indus Waters Treaty is a long-standing agreement signed in 1960. It was brokered by the World Bank and allows both India and Pakistan to share water from the Indus River and its tributaries. Breaking away from this treaty is seen as a serious step, and could impact millions of people who rely on the river system.
Firing at the Border Adds to Fears
There have also been reports of gunfire and cross-border shelling between the two armies along the Line of Control (LoC). The LoC is a 740-kilometer (460-mile) long de facto border that divides Kashmir into areas controlled by India and Pakistan.
This exchange of fire has caused more fear and concern among civilians living near the border. Many families in the area have already begun relocating for safety.

International Community Urges Calm
The United States has called for peace and asked both India and Pakistan to avoid military conflict. A spokesperson from the US Department of State said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reaching out to both countries’ leaders to ask them not to escalate the situation.
“We are reaching out to both parties, and telling them to not escalate the situation,” – US Department of State
The UN has also expressed serious concerns. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has spoken directly with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and avoiding steps that could lead to war or major violence.
Fear Among Citizens
As tensions grow, people in both countries are worried about what could happen next. On social media, hashtags related to war, Kashmir, and India-Pakistan conflict are trending. Many are calling for peace, while others are demanding a strong response to protect national interests.
In Pakistan, emergency planning has started in some areas, especially near the border. Hospitals have been put on alert and emergency drills are being conducted. Indian border villages are also reportedly preparing shelters and safety plans.
Past Conflicts and Present Warnings
This isn’t the first time the two countries have come close to military conflict. India and Pakistan have fought several wars, mostly over the Kashmir region. One major incident occurred in 2019, when a suicide bombing in Indian-controlled Kashmir led to Indian airstrikes inside Pakistan.
At that time, tensions rose very quickly, but international pressure helped reduce the crisis. Experts say that any fresh military action now could result in even more serious consequences than in 2019.
Call for Dialogue Over War
International organizations, peace groups, and human rights activists are urging both sides to stop aggressive actions and start a dialogue. They say that war would hurt ordinary people the most and create long-term damage to both economies.
Political analysts are also warning that a war between two nuclear-armed countries could be disastrous, not just for the region but for global stability.
Conclusion
The current situation between Pakistan and India is very tense. A deadly attack in Kashmir has sparked accusations, diplomatic conflicts, and military warnings. While Pakistan says it has evidence that India may attack soon, India has not confirmed any such plans.
Global powers like the US and the UN are now trying to prevent further escalation. The hope is that both countries will choose peace and diplomacy over war and violence.
